The desire for liberation

The tendency to wish for the misery of another is the root of your own misery.
Sometimes, we are willing to be miserable ourselves if only it would ensure that another remains in misery.

To wish well for another is the most difficult task for the mind.
To desire liberation for another is so repulsive to the mind that it would accept its own bondage rather than desire liberation for another.

To keep others in ignorance is the desire for power, which bounds the mind thus.
The only cure is to desire the welfare and liberation of all beings. No other cure is possible.
No action is of any use without the intention to liberate all beings, no matter how good or evil.

Your only choice is how long you are willing to wait to accept this truth.

That to desire liberation for others as much as you desire liberation for yourself is the only cure for your misery.

That this is the only worthy intention. To desire liberation for all beings is liberation itself.

Desiderata poem

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious
to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter, for always
there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.

And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

An excerpt from the internet

“The ego’s desires are misguided, because what is behind such desires is not wise enough to know what is best for oneself, only what is assumed to be best based on the ego’s misunderstandings about life and about what makes for happiness. The problem is that the ego’s perceptions are skewed by fear. Every fear the false self has becomes a desire:
The false self fears powerlessness, so it desires power over others, not realizing that real power comes from uniting with others, not subordinating them.
The false self fears poverty, so it desires wealth, not realizing that real wealth comes from love and loving relationships.
The false self fears obscurity, so it desires recognition, not realizing that all the recognition in the world will not make it feel seen or erase the sense of lack it feels.
The false self fears death, so it desires to live on in monuments, not realizing that it never did exist and that what is real is eternal.
The false self fears aging, so it desires the fountain of youth, not realizing that it is not the body.
The false self fears not knowing, so it desires knowledge, not realizing that knowledge without wisdom is folly.
The false self fears imprisonment, so it desires to imprison those it perceives as enemies, not realizing that the real enemy is within.
The false self fears dependence, so it desires individuality and separation, not realizing that Oneness and interdependence is the nature of life and its own salvation.
The false self fears being unloved and alone, so it desires love from others, not realizing that love is not something you get from others, but what you experience when you give it to others.”

Be aware

Remember that only accepting the truth can lead to lasting peace.
Accept the truth about what really exists.
Stop trying to seek refuge in various distractions.
Just sit with awareness.
Be still.
Be aware.
There is no boredom or misery in awareness.

Dealing with hatred

The desire to be superior over others. The desire to have power over others and to be wiser than others sometimes takes a strong hold over the mind. In this state, you have no desire to help anyone, but only to ensure that the others remain bound to their misery. Any liberation which occurs to another is regarded painfully by the mind.

This desire is dark. It cannot result in peace. It keeps you always in a state of regret and malice.

Overcoming hatred and malice is possible by desiring liberation for the other. In this way, the self is liberated.

The Light that you are

You live your life, all its varied moments of despair and restless seeking.
No matter what your state, the restless energy of life keeps on seeking.
Peace cannot be attained on the level that keeps seeking.

When there is no relationship to distract, especially the despair can become very strong. The regret intense.
But, is being in a relationship truly the end of seeking?

Can the relationship truly distract you away from your solitary self?

That which is referred to as 'I' is forever itself and completely untouched by anything, any event or any relationship. It is like a light that is always turned on. Revealing everything. But untouched by anything. You are this light. Not the objects revealed by it. You are this light. Forever still. Unmoved. Not noticing this, you dwell in confusion and misery. The ever shining light. Come back here.

Solitude

Solitude is more enjoyable than even the company of a beautiful woman.
Even the pleasure of being with your wife or lover is fleeting.

Solitude is life's ultimate enjoyment. He who enjoys his solitude is the richest person and needs nothing else.

Solitude over even the company of woman.

Rediscovery

Unless you are really grateful for the presence of solitude and stillness, you will end up seeking pleasure.
The search for pleasure will then lead you to ruin. In the ruin, you will rediscover the stillness that never left.
But now, you will begin to value it.

To remember your fundamental still nature at all times is lifes's greatest triumph. Even the love of wife or a beautiful relationship with a woman do not come close. Infact, you merely forget your real self in the presence of a beautiful companion whom you are attracted to.

Yes, we keep falling over and over again, tricked by the cunning mind yet again. All it takes is one phone call to go astray, if you are not careful. Truly, life's only blessing is your real self. Be rooted here in all situations.

Then it matters not who you lose or what you lose. That which cannot be lost is man's true redemption. There is no need however to sacrifice anything. Just live a natural life. Be good to people around.

And above all, be easy on yourself every time you fall from grace! :-)

Desire to enjoy

You are bound by the desire to enjoy.
To desire enjoyment is to invite misery.

Accept the pain and the strife of life. Realize that suffering is a great purifier.

May you be healed.

The tricky mind

The mind is a tricky impostor. It's sole occupation is comparison.
It will constantly dwell on what it lack's and imagine scenarios to fulfill the 'apparent' lack.

One who is single will constantly dwell on being in a relationship, and imagine life meaningless and empty without it.
One who is in a relationship will crave solitude.

In order to overcome the trickster, the only solution is to completely accept your present circumstances.
Do not seek to change what is.

Realize that the moment is perfectly complete and needs nothing external to complete itself.

The mind will put forth many illusions. Sometimes you will succumb to it.

Fear not. Accept the consequences. Realize that the mind is ultimately powerless against truth.

The truth, the Self alone is valuable.

Let the glory of the truth reveal itself through you.

Ignorance of the self is the sole cause of all miseries, and bad decisions.
